As a helicopter pilot Scott was looking for a vintage bike with performance. We started with a Peugeot Competition that featured Reynolds 531 frame and Mavic wheels. Added Campy Veloce brakes for sure stopping power and a rare Shimano Sport LX rear derailleur that featured machined chain wheels spinning on ball bearings for sure quick shifting. We stopped short of adding wings.

At 6"3" and the mass to fill out his frame Dominic needed a bike that could carry the load. Starting with a 68CM Nishiki 12 speed, traded out the stock wheels for 40 spoke Super Champion rims laced to Bulls Eye cartridge bearing hubs for maxium strength. With the addition of a Brooks B17 saddle and rear rack Dom is ready to commute.

Justin was looking for a unique bike. We started with a Schwinn Voyaguer 11.8 in solid chrome. Added Nitto 44CM noodle handle bars, a longer stem to get the bars higher,Cane Creek aero brake levers, natural cork bar tape, Brooks Flyer honey saddle, Rivendell Grip King pedals, Out your back door military surplus sead bag, and a unique tail light that mounts to a fender brase on.

What have I been doing all summer?

I have received several emails questioning why I have done so little posting this summer. Raleigh Tourist , Now listed on EBay Sold

I am not certain of the year. Serial #NS0034844. Nottingham head badge. Sturmey Archer hub stamped AW 81. The last one of these with the full chain case I saw sell on EBay went for 547.00. The full chain case model is less common than the half chain guard model. I will leave it posted here until I return from vacation on April 6th then to EBay if it hasn't sold. That is probally the best venue for this bicycle. Bicycle is in overall good condition. I cleaned and lubed the rear hub and overhauled the headset, bottom bracket, and front hub. I have just completed my 1st fixed gear conversion. Starting with a 1970 Raleigh Grand Prix that had been repainted I removed all brais on's , striped the old paint and had it painted at an auto paint shop. I then hand painted the head lugs peweter. Then added a set of mavic formula track wheels with highflang hubs and glue on tires. 65MM fixie crank with short reach track pedals to reduce chance of pedal strike. Pauls components Racer brake up front with the small Pauls brake lever. Brooks saddle and Velo Orange sew on elkhide bar wrap.

A Crusier for me

Started with a MaCaw Mango 6, swaped out the Shimano Tourney derailleur for a Shimano STX, junked the twist grip shifter and replaced it with a simple econo thumb shifter, added Schwelbe Fat Frank in place of the origional white walls, upgraded the saddle and added cork grips. Not another one like it in towne.

650 B conversion completed Before & After

The conversion consisted of 650B wheels with Synergy Velocity rims, Rivendale Fatty Rumpkin tires and phill wood hubs.
