Carlton built Catalina 57CM

This bicycle was built in the Carlton frame shop in England. Hand built with Reynolds 531 tubes and long point Italian luggs. Frame is completely chromed and was painted with translucent paint. I think it looks better without the paint. DurAce cranks, Shimano Crane derailleurs, DiaCompe center pull brakes, Cinille ttt stem and handle bars, New Brooks B17 saddle, and soon to have Hand Sewn Elk Hide bar wraps. Note the spot on the fork, a braised on boss to mount a headlight.

UPGRADE & 650B CONVERSION

This project is a bicycle that I will be building for my wife. I am starting with a Bridgstone RB5 Mixti, 10 speed, 27" steel wheels. I will be building 650B wheels with Synergy Velocity rims, and phill wood hubs. These wheels will allow fatter tires & fenders. I will also add a Nitto Techtonic high rise stem and Nitto Albatross handlebars for a more upright seating position. I will post my progress as I go along.

My personal ride

This is my personal bicycle. I usually get in a couple of 25 mile rides a week on it. Heron touring frame 59CM. (A Rivendell/Grant Peterson design) Phil Wood hubs laced to Mavic A719 rims with stainless steel double butted spokes. Schwalbe Marathon Plus 700 x 38C tires (I dont like repairing flats on the road, I have over 800 miles now without a flat) Just added are the Gilles Berthoud Stainless Steel fenders. I think they really set the bike off. Wheels are held on with Pitlock locking skewers. (Replacement cost for this wheelset with the tires is around $950.00) Brooks Champion Flyer Special saddle, Brooks leather bar wrap & Brooks mud flap. Nitto seat post, stem, and handle bars. Shimano Ultegra cranks with 46/36 chain rings and an eight speed 12/32 cassette. Rivendell Grip King pedals. Shimano Ultegra long cage rear derailluer, Sachs Huret front derailluer, Suntour Superb down tube shifters. Pauls Components, Neo-Retro Cantilever brakes with Shimano DurAce levers . Nigle Smyth seat pouch (which contains spare tube, patch kit, Park Tools Multitool, 6" Crecent wrench, a pair of tire levers, a presta/schrader adapter, and a grease rag. Cat Eye battery powered lights, Cat Eye 6 function wireless computer (I'm doing good to work through 6 functions) and a Japanise Brass Bell completes the acessory package.
